Specter's troubles not about Roe

A good article by Tim Noah at Slate about the Club for Growth and Arlen Specter:

Noah's point is that the GOP isn't hammering Specter because he's pro-choice. They're hammering him because he isn't sufficiently pro-economic-crisis.

Just another example of the Republican Party's real interests. Which suggests another way of weakening the GOP's "Values" coalition: just demonstrate their real interests. Call them on their bluff. Get the fundies to vote Constitution Party next time (or not vote at all).

  •  well the club for growth (none / 0)

is one of several groups working on Specter.  one of my friends that works up on the Hill for a R Senator said the phones were ringing off the hook all week from people on the abortion comment.

i read this morning in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that Orin Hatch is now supporting Specter, thats a big lift for him.

Then why has the Christian Coalition urged their members to call , even if they have to call ten times a day, and demand that Specter be defeated?

They have even suggested that their members go in groups of 10 or more and personally visit all members of Congress to lobby for his defeat.

The religious fanatics didn't buy the republican party because it was virtuous, they bought it because it was for sale
