The Rev. John Thomas, President of United Church of Christ, spoke today at Trinity United Church of Christ and called for a National discussion on Race.  Joining Rev. Thomas at TUCC were Rev. Otis Moss(Pastor of TUCC) and The Rev. Michael Kinnamon, General Secretary of the National Council of Churches.  

United Church of Christ has made the decesion not to sit back and let it's largest Church be attacked.  On Wednesday an ad appeared in the New York Times, and Rev. Thomas is also calling on Member to continue to donate so the ad can appear in a future edition of the USA Today.  As of Tuesday, when the last fundraising email was sent out, the Church had raised $174,818.  They were calling for $26,000 more in order to run the second.  Also reported by UCC was that the ad appeared in the Falls Church News Press on Thursday, after a local member of the UCC put up the funds for it.  

• Some people do not understand why I am a member of the Green Party of the United States.  They tell me "why would you waste your vote" or "they can't really change anything."  One of my favorite responses to the latter has become a bit of a rally cry for the Obama campaign.... "Yes, we can."  

Now some may wonder why I, deeply committed to the growth of the Greens, would be very open and very outspoken in my support of Senator Barack Obama to be our next President.  
My answer is very clear...Obama, while a Democrat, and I'm sure he's proud of his party affiliation, fits in with the 10 Key Values of the Green Party of the United States.  Let's take a look at them:
