The Bush-Move the Goalposts Game!
Mon Jul 18, 2005 at 10:17:25 AM PDT
Ok, since bush has been changing the critera needed to fire rove from "involved in a leak" to "did leak classified information" to "committed a crime." Lets predict where he'll move the goalposts to next...
I'll fire anyone who "is convicted and caused the death of CIA Operatives."
or I'll fire anyone who "plea bargains with information against me."
Frame against Outsourcing: Bad for Brands
Fri Jul 15, 2005 at 10:30:46 AM PDT
Seth Godin, a marketing guru, says, "Your call center is probably the single cheapest investment you can make in building your consumer or business to business brand among customers and motivated prospects."
This might be a frame to fight outsourcing.

Save Progressive Values, Cut Federal Taxes
Sun Nov 07, 2004 at 10:07:08 AM PDT
America needs to
End Redstate Welfare but not hurt the poor in these states.
I propose large tax credits. $2000 per person, $4000 per couple and $6000 per family for healthcare and education. With progressive reductions for those making over $150,000/yr and no credits for people making over $200,000/yr.
These are large enough to shrink the federal budget but minimize damage to redstate working families and poor.
The "Healthy Families Act" could be very popular. This coupled with "new federalism" would allow the blue states to retain more dollars for progressive efforts in their states - which could be used to develop technology to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and develop life improving science using such techniques as stem cell research.
Dems Support the Anti-Abortion Act
Fri Nov 05, 2004 at 09:58:02 AM PDT
The rise of abortions under the Bush administration has been alarming.
Democrats have a better plan. As prohibition did not eliminate alcohol, destroying Roe v. Wade and criminalizing abortion will not eliminate it and will cause more harm than good.
Our goal is not only the protection of life but the quality of that life. How can compassionate people allow a child to be born into a family that does not want them. How can compassionate people allow a child be brought into a household that considers them a burden and are subject to mental and possibly physical abuse.
Contraception, Adoption and Healthcare for those having a child is a moral imperative.
Killing gays and murdering abortionists
Thu Nov 04, 2004 at 10:43:00 PM PDT
When the quesions of abortion and gays came up in the debates Kerry was interpreted by some as waffling.
This is the answer I think he could have gone into:
On abortion:
I support a woman's right to choose.
It is wrong to support killing doctors who perform abortions as some of my opponents supporters have suggested.
On gay marriage:
I support civil unions for gays. It is wrong to advocate stoneing gays to death as the bible states and as some of my opponents supporters have suggested.
Bush Won on Tax Cuts, Not Moral Values
Thu Nov 04, 2004 at 06:41:20 PM PDT
All this talk about the "moral values" crowd has more than one person confused. How can they think Bush is moral? He Lied, People Died. Spreading Hate, etc...
The real deal is that people voted thier wallet. And their wallet got fatter if they had jobs. Those who didn't have jobs voted Kerry.
There is a shame from liking Tax Cuts. I've seen it. That is why the Repugs call it "Tax Relief"
To hide their guilt about cutting taxes and screwing the poor, they will say they are more moral for voting to stop Gay Marriage or Stopping Abortion.
I am not saying everyone didn't feel strongly about one of these two issues, I'm saying only 20% view these things as being enough to vote for a reckless liar.
The rest of them voted thier wallets.
Atrios: Tax Fairness Act or Ending Redstate Welfare
Thu Nov 04, 2004 at 05:07:57 PM PDT
"Tax Fairness Act of 2005." This Act would mandate that, within some reasonable margin of error, your state should get as much back from the feds as is sent to them in taxes. It's time to end this kind of geographic welfare!
Eschaton
This idea is similar to the thread we had earlier, End Red State Welfare
I think calling it "Tax Fairness" is nice. Of course the idea of just cutting the federal government to the essentials and letting states pick up the slack is how we can do this.

Fighting the Flip Flop Meme
Wed Sep 22, 2004 at 12:53:50 PM PDT
I just won against someone who accused Kerry of being a flop flopper.
I responded back that anyone who accuses Kerry of being a flop flopper is misleading America.
What has he flop flopped on?
Defense... He voted for every weapons system the GOP accuses him of voting against. His vote was a vote against pork.
Iraq... He voted for authority to go to war not to go to war. A huge difference.
The flip flop charge is just another misleading Bush tactic.
What works for you?
Help convince my jewish friend
Thu Sep 09, 2004 at 03:30:52 PM PDT
Hi-
I've got a jewish friend who has concerns about Kerry's stance on Israel... that Teresa gave money to palestineans...
I guess I'm asking, "What would Moses do?"
Help me convince her to vote Kerry...
800 protesting fox news right now
Tue Aug 31, 2004 at 02:05:57 PM PDT

Wish I was there! Post pictures someone!
Can we protest Fox News everyday?
Misrepresentation
Tue Aug 24, 2004 at 07:34:27 AM PDT
A while back I posted a diary asking how we should label GW. "Liar," I thought was harder to prove.
I think saying he "misrepresents" is a strong label.
Kerry could say:
George Bush misrepresents my record in vietnam, misrepresents my record in the senate,
misrepresents WMD as the reason for going into Iraq,
misrepresents the health of our economy,
George Bush misrepresents America.
Salon article about the Veterans Caucus

http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2004/07/26/veterans/index.html
I've always been a pro-military dem. Sometimes my support of the military in the past got me labeled a republican and its about time we dems acknowledged that while we don't want a war, we want our soldiers to be there when we need them. And we appreciate that.
It as nuanced position. Iraq is a horrible war but Kosovo and Gulf War I were wars America did good in.
Thank you vets.
Borrow and Spend Republican
Mon Jul 26, 2004 at 02:24:38 PM PDT
Howard Dean said on the Al Franken show that Bush was a Borrow and Spend Republican.
So was Reagan!
Republicans are the party of borrowing and spending.
Kerry is a Flip Flopper... Bush is a... ?
Sun Jul 25, 2004 at 07:11:49 PM PDT
The Rethugs' labeled gore an exaggerater and everyone on the right started finding examples of things that could be construed as such. Pretty soon, the media was joining in the game.
Although the Kerry Flip Flopper thing isn't being propagated as strongly, it is being pushed by the media as well.
It seems we need a main theme that would make it easier for people to remember why Bush must go.
I think the Bush is reckless meme would be a good way to go. What does everyone else think?
Voted in a Church?
Fri Jul 23, 2004 at 02:45:23 PM PDT
I recently found out that in many parts of this country, people vote for government officals in churches. Not in actual area with the pews but in an area owned and operated by churches.
I think there is a case to be made that this violates the separation of church and state.
Does anyone have any more info on this practice?
