Some musical fun and random thoughts for Saturday night

Sat Oct 30, 2004 at 06:13:48 PM PDT

In the midst of all this hand wringing, battling diaries, and whatnot, here is a bit of silly music with some wonderful Flash work that makes the point so well.

This group are exceptionally talented musicians (their usual stuff is more like Zappa, Beefheart, etc.), and their drummer is a friend of mine for almost twenty years. I didn't think he had a political bone in his body, but my group email from many months ago in which I asked people to get behind Dean got a great response from him, and I most recently got him to donate $100 and stand in the rain for a DFA event in the Philly suburbs. Enjoy!

Also, I just spoke with my mother who lives in those Philly suburbs and has been spending her weekends canvassing for Kerry. She is in Montgomery County and is liking what she sees. I am (obviously) a little incoherent now, so away I go. My wife and I are off to a party dressed as "moshers" from the Eminem video.

Have a great weekend and get psyched to kick some ass on Tuesday!

A channel for creative energy

I know this is is an unconventional post, but I am trying to spread the word about a contest being held to design T-shirts to promote John Kerry's candidacy and progressive issues in general. There are several categories for which entries can be made, and the current list of judges includes Tom Tomorrow, Al Franken, and other prominent names in the progressive community.

The official announcement follows:

Inspired by MoveOn's Bush in 30 Seconds contest, an independent group of designers and bloggers has created Designs On The White House (www.DesignsOnTheWhiteHouse.org), a design contest to create T-shirts for the Kerry Presidential Campaign.
